MHP RunLab™
Running performance, measured at the source — a structured assessment built around the VALD ecosystem, HumanTrak 3D motion analysis, and treadmill gait review.
The MHP RunLab™ isn’t a physio appointment with a treadmill in the corner. It’s a purpose-designed protocol that generates a complete biomechanical and strength profile of you as a runner. We’ve worked with recreational runners, Boston Qualifiers, elite road racers, and Olympic-level athletes — the protocol is the same, and the program that follows is built specifically for you.
Assessment Options
Choose the level that fits your goals. Both include the full 60-minute assessment protocol.
RunLab Assessment
The complete 60-minute assessment: full VALD DynaMo strength testing, HumanTrak gait analysis, and treadmill video review. Your clinician reviews your findings with you, and your personalized 20-page Patient Pack follows within a few days.

Full Phase Program
Your RunLab assessment plus an ongoing structured program through MHP’s 5 Phases of Care — including your Patient Pack, MoveHealth exercise delivery, clinician check-ins, and a re-testing milestone to track measurable progress.
Inside a 60-Minute RunLab Assessment
Every RunLab follows a standardized protocol — so your data is comparable to population norms, elite benchmarks, and your own future re-tests.
- Intake & History (0–10 min) — performance goals, injury history, training load, and current complaints reviewed in detail.
- DynaMo Strength Screen (10–25 min) — bilateral lower-limb testing: hip flexors, extensors, abductors, quads, hamstrings, calves. Symmetry and H:Q ratios calculated on the spot.
- HumanTrak Movement Analysis (25–40 min) — single-leg squat, lateral step-down, hip hinge, and landing mechanics scored against normative benchmarks.
- Treadmill Gait Analysis (40–55 min) — running at goal pace: cadence, stride length, vertical oscillation, foot strike, and trunk mechanics, with video for side-by-side review.
- Findings Review (55–60 min) — your clinician walks you through what the data shows and determines your phase placement. Your 20-page Patient Pack is delivered within a few days.
What We Look For in Runners
The specific markers our clinicians target in every RunLab — and why each one matters for your performance and longevity as a runner.
- Hamstring:quad ratio — target ≥0.60; the primary hamstring strain risk marker.
- Hip abductor strength & symmetry — deficits show up as IT band issues and pelvic drop.
- Plantarflexion force — propulsion capacity; key for speed and Achilles resilience.
- Hip flexor strength — asymmetry predicts compensatory loading over distance.
- Cadence — target ≥170 steps/min; reduces joint load and corrects overstriding.
- Vertical oscillation — excessive bounce is energy spent going up instead of forward.
- Stride length & symmetry — asymmetric gait predicts injury location with strong consistency.
- Trunk lean & lateral sway — energy leakage that costs speed and drives hip and back breakdown.
